Taxa and group mapping for the last 15000 years (?) using the EPD data set. This is the main 'product' for the group and so everyone is involved. At the Utrecht meeting, we agreed that each person would be responsible for checking maps for one or more taxa. These are given below. Any additions are welcome.
Simon: Quercus, Quercus ilex
Thomas: Picea, Fagus
Walter: Corylus, Nuphar, Nymphea, Typha, Myriophyllum
Heather: Pinus, Betula (incl nana?)
Jacques-Louis: Abies, Olea, Castanea
Norbert: Carpinus, Hedera, Ilex, Viscum, Sambucus
Petr: Calluna, Plantago lanceolata, Rumex, Pteridium
Odile: Alnus (excl. viridis), Ulmus, Tilia
Graciela: Fraxinus, Juglans, Artemisia
Ralph: Ranunculus, Cereale, Secale, Juniperus
It was agreed that the main focus of the group would be a study of biodiversity through time, looking at diversity gradients in Europe (lat/lon), and possibly long-term diversity in Mediterranean/other hotspots. The methods to be used will include eveness, rarefaction, and a functional approach based on plant traits.
